Discovery
Facilitation & Discovery
I facilitated Empathy Mapping & Future state (day-in-the-life) workshops with senior management at Toyota.
Through these workshops we were able to empathize with our users (maintenance production line staff) and we examined the ideal scenarios to alleviate our user’s current pains
Empathy mapping exercise
Future state - identified areas in the current workflow to improve
Key Findings
For Empathy Mapping, we were able to identify our user’s pains as well as their goals

UI Design
Set the Foundation with our User Story
As a maintenance floor team lead, I want to monitor the production line in a single UI, so that I have a clear indication of which equipment is down
UI Design
Through workshopping with Toyota, I highlighted key areas of the current Maximo UI to meet our user’s need. The current UI lacked proper functionality to allow our users to monitor and identify faults in the production line.
I designed a UI that would provide clarity into the status of the production line and display which items were highest priority to fix.
This was the current UI of Maximo. It was unclear which part or what machinery on the production line was down. There was no accurate way to view priority of which equipment should be fixed first.
From findings in Discovery, the UI had 2 main goals. First the UI should allow our user to view where in the production line a fault occurred. Second the UI should display the severity of each fault and provide insight into when it occurred. The solution used color coding to show severity and a simple table like UI to display where fault occurred on the production line.
After receiving user feedback. The final iteration of the UI included a simpler method for viewing faults on the production line. It also displayed a key to provide the user clearer visibility of system status.
